Principal Welcome Back Message 2022

Canyon View Families,

I hope this letter finds you well and that you have had the ability to mentally/emotionally/physically untangle from the past year.  This school year we are going to step out of the shadow of the past few school years and navigate for the future.

As we are looking forward to the 2022-2023 school year, there are going to be a couple of things that are immediate priorities as we kick off the school year.  The first is building safety.  I have worked this summer with Rod (our fabulous custodian) and the district to assess continued improvements for safety.  This will include additional cameras and electronic door locks.  Doors will not be able to be unlocked/propped open for building safety.  Teachers and paras, it will be critical to support building safety by how we teach the students to access things in the building and move about.  Parents will also need to be aware that they will need to enter through the main office and follow visitor procedures.  The second immediate priority is staffing programs. We currently have multiple open positions.  Please network, connect, and share our openings.  I firmly believe Canyon View is SUCH A GREAT PLACE TO WORK! Please share with others how great it is and encourage people to check it out.   

Last year our mantra was DETERMINE YOUR DIRECTION with a focus on how we can choose our course.  Earlier this calendar year I heard a speaker talk about teaching for the future and not the past.  Our statement this year will be LEARN FOR THE FUTURE.  As part of that learning we collectively, as a navigator community, are going to also consider teaching, connecting, behaving, planning, envisioning, creating, growing, and being purposeful in our future mindset.
